No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Fresh concerns over post-poll security emerged in South 24 Parganas after police recovered seven bombs from an agricultural field in Bhangar, just a day after the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections concluded. The explosives were found hidden behind chilli plants in the Bhogali-1 area under the North Kashipur police station limits, triggering panic among local residents.
According to local accounts, villagers noticed two suspicious bags lying in the vegetable field and alerted the police. Acting promptly, officers reached the spot and recovered a total of seven live bombs from the bags. The area was secured as police initiated an investigation into who had stored the explosives and for what purpose.
The recovery has raised serious questions about whether the bombs were intended to create unrest during polling, immediately after voting, or ahead of the upcoming counting process. Authorities are now examining possible links and patterns, especially as similar recoveries have been reported from multiple locations during the election period.
Incidents involving explosives have surfaced repeatedly across the state in recent days, both before and during polling, adding to security concerns. Police have intensified surveillance and are continuing their probe to identify those responsible and prevent any further threat to public safety.
